Who is East End Explorer?
My name is Eric Wurzburg. My wife Beth and I founded and operate East End Explorer LLC, based in Southampton, NY.
When I was 8 years old, my class took a trip to the salt marshes, I've been hooked on estuarial ecology and life of the salt marsh ever since. It's quite amazing to see the biodiversity that thrives in these shallow waters and grasslands. Throughout my life I have pursued occupations that have allowed me to share my passion for environmental stewardship and ecological mindfulness with others. I travel, fish, dive, paddle, hike, boat, and explore the natural world every chance I get. The salt water holds a special place in my heart--especially the waters of the East End. I've earned a Master degree in Natural Resource Management with an emphasis on environmental education. Beth earned her Ph.D. in educational theory and practice and is a professor of education at the University of Georgia during the academic year.
Together, we created East End Explorer LLC, an eco-tour company focused on exploring the natural wonders of the waters around Long Islands east end. We offer a marine science immersion program; East End Explorer Camp, guided kayak/paddle board tours, custom nature excursions, Kayak and Paddle board rentals, and starting in 2023 excursions and tours on our 32' inspected passenger boat custom designed to explore the East End.
For our rentals we provide maps of the area, identification charts, up-to-date safety equipment, and quality gear.
Our tours are unlike any available on the east end, our specialty is our hands on marsh explorations and aquaculture tours. We can accommodate special requests and design our route and logistical planning to your specific needs. We emphasize safety and encourage all of our guests to come with open minds and hearts along with a willingness to get their feet wet and hands dirty.
We have built a tour company with a message, a company with heart, soul, and most of all with integrity. This venture is not so much a business but a calling and a need to follow a dream. To be true to the 8 year old in all of us, encourage others to put their toes in the sand, breathe the salt air and take a moment to reflect and appreciate the natural world.

Paddle Happy, a way of life on the East end
Paddle Happy is our motto. It's also our number one rule at East End Explorer! Live Happy, Paddle Happy, Be Happy... Life is complex and things don't always go as planned, but some things do remain the same: the tide will rise and fall, and the Osprey fly south for winter and return come spring. We at East End Explorer are here to help you to connect with that state of mind. The simple things such as pushing water with a paddle to move you as you float along a slow moving body of water above diverse ecosystems of creatures who stress only about not being another creatures' meal, who only stress about finding a creature to eat. Quite peaceful when you think about it! Enjoy not being eaten, and appreciate how we take survival for granted. Allow us to guide you in enjoying the basis of life, and just being alive. Simple complexities few of us actually grasp. There are deals to be done, games to be won, plans to be made... but we rarely appreciate moments in the sun or the reprieve in shade when the dealing is done.
